  1. I’m glad you are using a neon sign transformer driver for this. Using any old high voltage source could lead to the generation of x-rays which I’m sure you know would by very bad (don’t cross the beams kinda bad 🙂 ) I’d still want to do the math and see what the maximum photon energy released could be. Warning aside, the high voltage stuff could be very cool. Argon and other gasses can be rather affordable and so are rods of glass and blow torches. One could get into making one’s own neon signs, vacume tubes, or even nixie tubes with that vacume pump. Way cool 🙂
